New Product: Mt Cook Heli-Snowshoeing - by Alpine Guides
2017 Season Dates: 19 June to 30 September
Mount Cook Heli Snowshoeing is a joint venture, operated in conjunction with The Helicopter Line.
Snowshoeing operates 2 times per day out of Glentanner during winter months.
Heli Snowshoeing is weather dependent. There are several sites used, all with uninterupted mountain views. The sites chosen each day are selected by guides and pilots, based on weather, snow quality, and stability.
The Aoraki Mount Cook region offers some of the most spectacular alpine scenery within the South Island of New Zealand. We combine an awesome scenic helicopter flight before you descend on to a snowy mountain to begin your snowshoeing experience.
Modern, lightweight snowshoes make walking easy, so you can enjoy the incredible experience on the mountain: natural silence and amazing views across the Mackenzie Basin to Aoraki Mount Cook, and the giants of the Southern Alps.
Your guide will lead you over snowy plateaus and rolling terrain where you may want to build a snowman, or simply take in the pristine alpine air of this unique adventure.
Alpine Guides is NZ’s longest established mountain guiding company, based at Aoraki Mt Cook since 1966.
Your professional guide will lead you safely across the most spectacular mountain terrain whilst providing a friendly informative interpretation of the landscape around you.

Health and Fitness
Most healthy people with ‘street’ level fitness will enjoy the heli snowshoeing.
Health problems and lack of physical fitness may limit a person’s ability to safely take part on, or complete a Heli Snowshoe.
We reserve the right to shorten, or cancel trips for guests whose fitness or ability is not appropriate.
Guests not able to complete the trip are not be entitled to a refund.
The guide must be advised of any medical conditions prior to departure.
Children need to be:
• At least 8 years

We reserve the right to change these requirements due to terrain and weather conditions.
There is no child rate as an adult aircraft seat is occupied and the guiding responsibilities are unchanged.
We require a minimum of 4 guests at each time slot, and on each helicopter load to operate.
Customers may transfer to another time-slot if space and itineraries allow in order to meet minimum numbers.
Snowshoeing is a weather dependent activity. We reserve the right to cancel the trip if weather is not safe/suitable for the helicopter or walking.
Customers may transfer to another time-slot, if space, weather, and itineraries allow.
Alpine Guides reserves the right to change the duration of the trip around changing weather conditions.
We reserve the right to adjust scheduled times due to weather or other circumstances beyond our control.
Cancellations – Due to Weather
If we cannot operate (due to weather or minimum numbers) a refund of 100% is due for any pre-paid clients who are unable to re-book for a later date or time slot.
If payment was made by credit card the refund will be credited to the same card.
Charges will appear in the name of ‘Alpine Guides Aoraki’ on the credit cardholder's statement.

Cancellations should be made by phone (+64 3 435 1834), email, or in person.
We reserve the right to consider guests arriving 30 minutes or more after advertised departure (after 10:30 or 12:30) as no-shows. Late arrivals potentially disrupt their flight and subsequent departures. Where possible, we will try to reschedule late guests. This is not guaranteed.
We reserve the right to cancel reservations if customers fail to reconfirm bookings, or we cannot contact them and there is pressure for seats. A contact cell phone number is appreciated.
Guests must be 18 years or older to make a Snowshoeing booking. Persons under 18 years old require a parent or guardian accompanying them. The parent/guardian must complete the registration form prior to the heli snowshoe.
